These Terms explain how Paymonetra works, what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you. Please read them carefully before using the app, and keep a copy for your records.
Welcome to Paymonetra. These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Paymonetra mobile application and any related services we provide.
By creating an account or using Paymonetra, you agree to be bound by these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms that apply to specific features. If you do not agree, you may not use Paymonetra.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under Nigerian law. You may only use Paymonetra for your own account, and you may not use it on behalf of another person without our written consent.
Paymonetra is available through our mobile app. Access to accounts through our website has been discontinued.
To use Paymonetra you must create an account and give us accurate, current and complete information about yourself. You agree to keep that information up to date.
As a regulated financial service, we are required to verify your identity. You agree to provide the identity information and documents we request, and you accept that we may limit, suspend or decline services where verification is incomplete or where we are required to do so by law.
You are responsible for keeping your login details, PIN and device secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
Your Paymonetra wallet holds your naira balance and is used to fund the services in the app. Funds may be held with our licensed banking partners.
You may fund your wallet using the methods offered in the app. You are responsible for making sure your wallet holds enough value to cover a transaction before you confirm it.
A wallet is a payment account for transacting on Paymonetra. It is not a savings or investment product and we do not pay interest on balances unless we expressly say otherwise.
Paymonetra lets you pay for services such as airtime, data, cable television, electricity, education payments and similar bills, which are supplied by third parties.
You are responsible for entering the correct details, including phone numbers, meter numbers and account references. Payments sent to details you entered incorrectly may not be recoverable.
Delivery of value such as airtime, data or an electricity token depends on the relevant provider. Where a provider fails to deliver, we will return the amount to your wallet once the failure is confirmed.
Paymonetra lets you buy, sell, swap and send supported digital assets. Digital assets are not legal tender, are not guaranteed by any government, and are not covered by any deposit protection scheme.
The value of digital assets can rise and fall sharply and you may lose money. You are solely responsible for your decisions. Nothing in the app or on our website is investment, tax or legal advice, and no outcome is promised.
Rates shown in the app are quoted for a short period and are only valid while the quote is live. If a quote expires you will need to request a new one. The naira amount shown before you confirm is the total you will pay or receive for that transaction, inclusive of any applicable charges.
Transfers on a blockchain are irreversible. You are responsible for the accuracy of any external wallet address and the network you select, and we cannot recover assets sent to an incorrect address or over an unsupported network.
We may suspend crypto services, delist an asset, or decline a transaction where required by law, where a partner is unavailable, or where we reasonably suspect misuse.
Gift cards bought through Paymonetra are issued by third-party brands and are subject to the issuing brand's own terms, expiry rules and regional restrictions.
You are responsible for choosing the correct brand, country and value. Once a gift card code has been delivered to you, the purchase cannot usually be reversed.
We are not responsible for a brand refusing to honour a validly issued card, but we will help you raise the issue with the issuer where we can.
Paymonetra may offer virtual and physical payment cards linked to your wallet, issued through our partners and subject to the relevant scheme rules.
You may freeze, unfreeze or cancel a card in the app. You are responsible for keeping your card details private and for transactions made with your card.
Card transactions may be declined where your balance is insufficient, where limits apply, or where a transaction is flagged for security reasons.
You may send value to other Paymonetra users. Confirm the recipient before you send, as completed transfers cannot be reversed by us without the recipient's cooperation.
The amount you see before you confirm a transaction is the total that will be debited from or credited to your wallet for that transaction, inclusive of any applicable charges.
We may change our pricing from time to time. Changes apply to transactions made after the change takes effect.
We may apply limits to transaction size, frequency and balances, and these may vary with your verification level or with regulatory requirements. We may change limits at any time where necessary to meet our legal obligations or manage risk.
Where a transaction fails and value is not delivered, we will return the amount to your wallet once we have confirmed the outcome with the relevant provider. Some providers take time to confirm, and we will keep you updated.
If you believe a transaction on your account is wrong or unauthorised, contact us as soon as possible so we can investigate.
You agree not to use Paymonetra for any unlawful or unauthorised purpose, including fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, or any activity prohibited under Nigerian law.
You also agree not to use Paymonetra to harass, defame or threaten any person, to interfere with or attempt to compromise the service, or to access the service through automated means without our permission.
Some parts of Paymonetra depend on third parties, including banking partners, payment processors and service providers. Where you use those features, the relevant third party's terms may also apply. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third parties beyond our reasonable control.
We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect, how we use it and the rights available to you.
We may suspend, restrict or close your account where we are required to by law, where we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse, where verification cannot be completed, or where you breach these Terms.
You may close your account at any time by contacting support, provided there are no pending transactions or obligations on the account. Where a balance remains, we will return it to you subject to our legal and verification requirements.
The Paymonetra service and all content and materials available through it, including text, graphics, logos, images and software, belong to Paymonetra or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy or use these materials without our written consent.
Paymonetra is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error free, or that it will meet your particular requirements.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Paymonetra shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of profits, business interruption or loss of data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
You agree to indemnify Paymonetra against claims, losses and costs arising from your misuse of the service, your breach of these Terms, or your breach of any law or third-party right.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Where a change is material we will give you reasonable notice through the app or by email. Continuing to use Paymonetra after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If a dispute arises, contact us first so we can try to resolve it with you. Disputes that cannot be resolved will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Nigerian courts.
If you have questions about these Terms, reach us through the contact options in the app or on our Contact page and our team will help.
